March - November 2023
With the support of Barcelona City Council
WITH ATTENDANCE COMMITMENT AND Selection Interviews
registrations: until February 21
Selection interviews: until February 27
selection: March 1-3
For eleven years, La Xixa has been teaching the "Intercultural Forum Theater Facilitators training" with the support of the City Council and the Provincial Council of Barcelona. This annual training is consolidated as the most important and multidisciplinary in our organization, as it brings together and strengthens the methodological bases of the work we develop. It also allows us to multiply the tools generated during these twelve years of career.
This training is structured in chapters. From a holistic perspective, we offer the crucial tools to transversal the intercultural perspective, not only in the Forum Theatre, but by deepening the critical gaze with a feminist and intersectional basis. We put into practice creative and theatrical tools that contribute to the questioning of power relations and stereotypes, in order to co-build a society free of discrimination and violence.
This year's 2023 edition focuses on the role of facilitator, sharing new skills for managing diverse groups and conflict; not forgetting to take care of ourselves as facilitators and create support networks between us.
"What is familiar to us becomes invisible: making theater, on the contrary,
illuminates the scene of our daily lives"
Augusto Boal
FORUM TEATRE
At La Xixa, we consider the Forum Theater as a tool for social innovation. At Teatre Fòrum, actors and actresses develop a short piece of theater based on recent or own experiences. The postulate of the technique is that the oppressed person always has the capacity to act to confront the oppressor. At the moment of greatest conflict, the Joker o Curinga stops the piece. Through open dialogue, the audience proposed alternatives to try to change the situation by entering the scene. This exercise contributes to active and collective reflection, achieving transformations that would otherwise be very difficult to achieve.
