CONTEXT

The group of domestic and care workers is a group in which there are multiple axes of discrimination and precariousness. In 2011, the Sindillar Home and Care Workers' Union was born, a group of women organized to fight against the job, economic, political, social and emotional precariousness of women in the care sector.

SUMMARY

The project proposes the realization of a process of Legislative Theater with the aim of promoting, training, supporting and strengthening the participation and political self-organization of women in the labor sector.

domestic and care.

JUSTIFICATION OF YOUR NEED

WOMEN AND CARE
  • To make visible and address the intersectional inequalities experienced by the group from the voices, stories and visions of the group itself,

  • Recognize and make visible the diversity present as a source of wealth and also as a need for inclusive policies that consider this diversity,

  • Defend the labor and social rights of domestic and care workers,

  • Encourage the training of the group with innovative, inclusive and politically relevant methodologies,

  • Raise awareness and involve the public in these issues that the group in particular suffers from and that affect us all,

  • Network, support and strengthen the work of local groups and entities.

Women working in the care and home sector suffer from a situation of legal and institutional precariousness, impoverishment and invisibility that on the one hand puts obstacles in their way to access the most basic rights as workers, and on the other hand positions them in a situation of vulnerability in the face of sexist aggression, harassment and lack of social and legal spaces to deal with such violence.

THE PROJECT USES THE METHODOLOGY OF THE THEATER OF THE OPPRESSED TO CARRY OUT THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES
  • Intensive workshop of the Theater of the Oppressed of 6 hours in July.

  • Open Theater Group of the Oppressed from September to December. Presentation of the play “La Mancha Roja” at the Intersectional Forum Theater Masterclass in November.

  • Presentation of the pieces “La Mancha Roja” and “Tic Tac” in December.

  • Four intensive 6-hour capsules each capsule with migrant women activists in Sindillar.

  • Performance of Sindillar women at the MACBA "365 days of invisible work"
